What to expect in your Notion setup session: dashboards, databases, and more
You just booked a Notion setup session with meβWoo hoo!
Let me walk you through what to expect so we can make the most of our time together.
Why we're meeting on Zoom
I've tried a lot of video platforms, and Zoom is my favorite for Notion setup sessions. Here's why:
I use a teleprompter setup that lets me look directly at you while I'm talking. You can watch a YouTube video here on what that setup looks like from my end. It seems fancy, but what it really means is that I get to have you on full screen and still make eye contact. It makes our conversation feel so much more natural and connected.
The other reason? I can draw directly on your screen as you share.
I'll be drawing on your screen (in a good way!)
One of the most helpful parts of our setup sessions is when you share your screen with me. I can use Zoom's annotation tools to draw, circle, and point to exactly where things need to go in your Notion workspace.
Many of the navigational elements in Notion can be hidden β that's by design β so I can help you explore everything the interface has to offer.
Instead of saying "click on that button in the sidebar" β I can literally draw an arrow to where to click and show you where to enter text. It's like having me right there next to you, pointing at your screen.
So when we hop on the call, expect to share your screen on Zoom. Here are the requirements from Zoom as of writing:

Having this ready before our call will help me guide you through your Notion setup in real time.
Come prepared (but not perfect)
The most productive setup sessions happen when you have something to show me. This could be:
- Your current workspace or pages you've started building
- Databases or content already in your workspace that we can organize
- Workflows or processes you're trying to track or manage
- Examples of Notion templates or setups you've seen that inspire you (Pinterest boards welcome!)
- A sense of what you're hoping to accomplish β whether that's a dashboard, project tracker, knowledge base, or something else
Don't worry about things being polished or "done right." I want to see what you've tried and what you're working with. That's where the magic happens β we'll work through your setup together.
You don't need to explain everything in advance β I can help you with that. Just have your workspace accessible so you can pull it up during our call.
What you can expect from me
I'll come to the call with energy and focus. I'll ask questions to understand what you do, what you're trying to achieve, and what's tripping you up in Notion.
I'll show you exactly how to build what you need β whether that's dashboards, databases, pages, or workflows β not in theory, but right there on your screen using your actual content. We'll work through it together until it clicks, while also being mindful of our time.
If you're looking for more time or ongoing support, you can always book another call with me.
And most importantly, I'll do my best so you leave the call with clear next steps and the confidence to keep building on your own.
Ready for your session?
That's it! Come as you are, bring your questions and your workspace, and let's turn your creative chaos into organized flow.
See you on Zoom π
